Lola B. Morgan recalls being fortunate enough to have influential people surrounding her throughout her early childhood years, instilling life mantras and displaying beautiful efforts of living their life with purpose and integrity.

 

"My mother inspired me to write to relieve stress and fulfill words I didn't feel comfortable conveying in my adolescent years. Understanding this quality led me on a journey of self-awareness and discovery pursuing & honoring the most authentic version of myself"!

 

"In some form, all of my contributions influenced A Griot's Corner. Many ask why I chose the name Griot, and to be frank; I didn't want to settle on an easy-going name to house my creations."

 

Can you recall the matriarch of your family, having round table discussions, the room filled with laughter, love, and great food? My late Aunt Iyalode Nkechi Ajanaku exuded just that! I can remember sitting at her living room table, explaining how I needed a name for my brand. The first name she proclaimed was Griot- Young Griot! 

And the start of my saga began.

 

Although Nkechi is no longer with us

 I pray her name reigns out every time A Griot's Corner is spoken.

Iyalode was a woman of intention and just like her; I aim to ensure that people understand the meaning of a Griot while learning their value and contribution to this world!
